Editor’s note: Jantzen Kanei-Mendes has been arrested and this post has been updated.
Honolulu police and CrimeStoppers have arrested a man wanted on a warrant in connection with a drug case.
Jantzen Kanei-Mendes was previously wanted for not showing up for sentencing earlier in June.
“On June 30, 2015, officers responded to a report of a male in the bathroom area of Auwaiolima Park doing drugs,” said Sgt. Kim Buffett. “Upon entering the restroom they observed a male holding drugs and drug paraphernalia, identifying him as Kanei-Mendes and placed him under arrest for promoting a dangerous drug in the third degree and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.”
Police arrested him on June 21, at approximately 9:15 p.m., at 1430 Queen Emma Street, for his $50,000 probation revocation warrant and $20,000 violations of conditions of release on bail, recognizance, or supervised release warrant (804-7.2).
“He has 18 prior convictions and is known to frequent the Honolulu area,” Buffett said.
