Hawaii Fire Dept. investigate cause of Parker Ranch brush fire

The Hawaii Fire Dept. reports that approximately 220 acres of Parker Ranch pasture land and open fields were burnt by brush fire Friday.

The fire was on both sides of Highway 19 between the 65- and 66-mile marker.

The first unit was on the scene at 1:14 p.m. and was under control by 3:38 p.m. Bucket drops from a helicopter were used, as well as handlines from participating agencies, including Parker Ranch personnel.

A fire truck was damaged in a collision while responding, with two fire personnel transported to North Hawaii Community Hospital for treatment and evaluation.

No one else was injured and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
