More business are opening ahead of West Oahu’s newest mall.
Ka Makana Alii is the first new shopping center on Oahu in more than three decades and the only regional mall being developed in West Oahu with more than 100 department and specialty stores, and restaurants.
The 1.4-million-square-foot center doesn’t officially open until Friday, Oct. 21, but some businesses are opening their doors early.
Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton opened Wednesday. It’s the state’s first Hampton Inn and offers free breakfast, Wi-Fi, and parking.
For a limited time, kamaaina and military can enjoy a low introductory rate at $151 plus tax per night by calling the hotel directly at (808) 628-4900.
California Pizza Kitchen opens Friday at 2 p.m. It will be the company’s sixth restaurant on Oahu, and feature items exclusive to Hawaii restaurants, such as sesame-seared ahi, poke chop chop salad, and a hand-shaken agave mojito.
“The transformation with all our local labor, the workforce out here has been spectacular. In March of last year, this was all a field, and to go from the time we interviewed to today, it couldn’t be done with everybody’s support,” said Richard Hartline, DeBartolo Development vice president. “The biggest thing about Ka Makana Alii that we’ve grown to realize is we’re a small piece of the bigger puzzle of the second city growth and the vision of everybody out there.”
The center’s anchor Macy’s store opened Sept. 1, and a grand opening celebration is slated for Friday, Sept. 30.
Additional tenants include H&M, Forever 21, Victoria’s Secret, Bath & Body Works, Old Navy, Skechers, Foot Locker, Kay Jewelers, 24 Hour Fitness, Hoala Salon and Spa, Applebee’s, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Luibueno’s, AT&T, Zales, Zumies, Rix Island Wear, Town & Country Surf Designs, Famous Footwear, PetSmart, Reyn Spooner, Plus Interiors, Nagoya Ramen, Kickin Kajun, Koa Pancake House, Wendy’s, L&L Hawaiian Barbeque, Panda Express, Subway, Auntie Anne’s, Cinnabon, and a state-of-the-art Consolidated Theatres multiplex.
