Honolulu police have reopened the three left lanes of the H-1 Freeway eastbound near the Managers Dr. overpass after being closed due to a garbage truck that caught on fire Saturday.

The first HFD unit arrived on the scene at 1:11 p.m., with the truck located in the far left lane of the freeway. Fuel from the truck had also emptied onto the freeway and moved across the other lances.

HFD personnel were able to prevent the spill from reaching a nearby storm drain and utilized absorbent to clean up the spill.

A Dept. of Transportaion contractor was dispatched to the scene to follow-up on the spill and the scene was turned over to the Pacific Environmental Corporation.

No injuries were reported.

There is still no information as to how the fire started.
