Free e-waste recycling services ends in May for Kauai residents

Local News

Kauai residents will have to find a new way to recycle their old computers and TVs.

The county announced Tuesday that it’s ending free e-waste recycling services for residents on May 14. That’s when its current contract with T&N computer recycling services ends, and with no more state funding for the program, the county has no plans to continue e-waste hauling in the next fiscal year.

Officials are looking into other recycling options for the future.

The recycling office urges businesses and residents to take advantage of the remaining three eWaste events at the Kauai Resource Center located at 3460 Ahukini Road near the Lihue Airport.

Dates for the upcoming events, from 7:45 a.m.-4:15 p.m., are:

  • Friday, March 11 and Saturday, March 12
  • Friday, April 8 and Saturday, April 9
  • Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14
