Fourth annual Mango Jam Honolulu offers a taste of island culture

Celebrate Hawaii’s love for mango and island culture at the fourth annual Mango Jam Honolulu. 

The free event will take place on Friday, June 29, from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday, June 30, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the Frank F. Fasi Civic Center Grounds surrounding Honolulu Hale.
 
Mango Jam Honolulu offers A Taste of Island Culture by featuring a multicultural mix of local food, crafts and entertainment unique to our island home. 

The free family-friendly event will feature award winning live entertainment, a pop-up bar by Tiki’s Grill and Bar with mango inspired cocktails, food booths, made in Hawaii craft vendors, a farmers’ market showcasing local produce, and the debut of the Mango Recipe Contest and Mango BBQ Cook-Off!
 
Headlining the Mango Stage on Friday evening will be Iron Mango and four-time Na Hoku Hanohano Award winners Kapena and the Manaʻo Company. Saturday’s lineup features Hoku Zuttermeister, Josh Tatofi, the exclusive performance by Kapena Kids, and Kalapana.
 
On Saturday at 10 a.m., Mango Jam Honolulu will debut the Mango BBQ Cook-Off: a cooking competition between D.K. Kodama’s restaurants. 

Executive Chef Keith Endo from Vino Italian Tapas & Wine Bar and Executive Chef Adrian Solorzano of Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar Waikīkī will battle to create the best summer dishes featuring everyone’s favorite summer fruit, the mango! 

Chefs will purchase their produce from the local farmers in our Mango Market highlighting their fresh, seasonal offerings in sweet and savory courses to be judged by Michelle Karr-Ueoka and Wade Ueoka of MW Restaurant, as well as food writer Lynette Lo Tom. 

Enjoy samples of each dish and vote for your favorite chef to see who will be crowned the first ever Mango Master.
 
The public is invited to participate in the Mango Recipe Contest by entering their favorite mango recipes to compete for cash prizes. 

One winner will be chosen in the following two categories to compete on Saturday at noon for our esteemed panel of judges. Category 1: Sweet Mango Delight; and Category 2: Savory Mango Masterpiece. All ages are welcomed!

Free parking for Mango Jam Honolulu will be available in the city’s municipal parking lot and the nearby Kalanimoku building.

The entertainment stage, food and craft booths, beer garden and farmers’ market will be on the Frank F. Fasi Civic Grounds between the Mission Memorial Building and the Frank F. Fasi Municipal Building.
 
Members of the Honolulu Woodturners will demonstrate their skills by using mango wood for various projects throughout the day.
 
Mango Jam Honolulu is presented by the Mayor’s Office of Culture and the Arts and the Hawaii Food Industry Association.
