Flags at half-staff to remember President Abraham Lincoln

Local News

National and state flags are flying at half-staff through sundown in honor of President Abraham Lincoln.

One hundred fifty years ago today, the United States’ 16th president died from a gunshot wound inflicted by John Wilkes Booth the night before at Ford’s Theater.

According to a proclamation signed by President Barack Obama, “Today, we reflect on the extraordinary progress he made possible, and with one voice, we rededicate ourselves to the work of ensuring a Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”
