In celebration of Kewalo Basin as an historic fishing landmark, the first annual “Big Fish Chase” was held on Saturday.
Fishing crews brought in their haul for weighing in the evening.
A total of $10,000 in prize money was up for grabs and some experienced crews showed up to compete.
“Actually last year we won two back-to-back tournaments we won the Hanapaa with a 515-pound marlin and we also won the Waikiki Yacht club with a 33-pound ono,” said participating fisherman Mike Rosenberg.
Rosenberg says his crew caught more than 260 pounds of fish in all, with an ahi coming in at 226 pounds.
Prizes were awarded for the largest marlin, ahi, ono and mahimahi.
