A Kalihi home was destroyed by a two-alarm fire Thursday.
The call came in at 10:54 a.m. from a single-story home on Machado Street.
Ten units staffed with 39 personnel responded. Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames emanating from the doors and windows.
The fire was brought under control at 11:15 a.m.
Officials say a man was home at the time, but heard the flames and managed to escape safely.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
A damage estimate has not been released, but the home is considered a total loss.
The American Red Cross has been called in to assist the family.
