Honolulu Police Chief Susan Ballard wants a faster roll out for body cameras to police officers in all districts.
We first told you last month, she had planned for all officers to be outfitted with cameras within two years.
In an update today to the City Council, HPD says, Ballard now hopes to have that done by the end of this year.
So far, 300 officers have body cameras in 3 districts — Downtown, Chinatown, Kakaako, Waikiki, and East Honolulu.
Those cameras have captured 18,000 hours of video and only one so far has malfunctioned.
