Ewa Beach house fire found to be intentionally set

According to reports from the Honolulu Fire and Police Depts., an Ewa Beach house fire Saturday was intentionally set by one of its occupants.

At 1:53 p.m., the HFD responded to a two-alarm building fire at 91-869 Haehae Place. The first unit arrived six minutes later to find a one-story, single family dwelling with smoke and flames coming out of a bedroom window.

The fire was brought under control at 2:02 p.m. and fully extinguished eight minutes later.

Four persons were home at the time of the fire and were able to evacuate without injury.

A 60-year-old male occupant told police that a 25-year-old male occupant was the one who intentionally set fire to items in his bedroom. The fire was contained to the bedroom and damages are estimated to be $20,200.

No arrests were made at the time.
