Maui Ocean Safety and fire personnel responded to assist a snorkeler in the area of Kamaole point on Saturday, January 19.
Ocean Safety officers at Kamaole 2 reportedly observed the victim and her husband snorkeling and recognized they needed assistance.
They immediately responded and assisted the unresponsive female victim to the shoreline.
Ocean Safety officers began lifesaving efforts and were further assisted by fire personnel and medics.
Despite all efforts, the victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim is described as a 64-year-old female visitor from Kansas City.
Conditions at the time were reported to be slightly choppy with winds approximately 15 mph.
