Driver pronounced dead at hospital after Kaneohe accident

Local News

The female driver involved in a critical accident on Waikalua Road in Kaneohe has died.

She has been identified as Mary Wuscher, 87, of Kaneohe.

It happened a little after 4:30 p.m. in front of the Kaneohe police station.

They say that she side-swiped into another car, driven by a 29-year-old from Waipahu, before hitting a telephone pole.

According to HPD, the elderly female appeared to be unconscious prior to the collision.

Officers have reopened Waikalua Road in the makai-bound direction from Kamehameha Highway, which was closed earlier on Sunday as they investigated the scene.

The elderly female was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police say speed, drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors.
