Dinner fundraiser featuring local celebrity servers benefits Kapiolani Medical Center

Local News

Local celebrity servers, including some of our KHON2 News reporters, served it up at a benefit for Kapiolani Medical Center.

It was held at Noi Thai, a new restaurant at the Royal Hawaiian Center.

Other celebrity servers include Major League Baseball player Shane Victorino, Dog the Bounty Hunter’s Duane and Beth Chapman and NFL Pro Bowl cheerleaders.

All tips collected by the servers in their blue buckets benefit the hospital.

“It is because we are Christians, and we have a strong belief that we want to help children and women, and I have met someone from Kapiolani Medical Center and I feel like I really want to help,” said restaurant owner Chadillada “noi” Lapangkura.

“You know as I said, being somebody from the community, it’s always important to come to be and enjoy these kind of events and you know, make someone happy, make some kid’s dreams come true and that’s the kind of stuff that’s makes these kind of things important and it’s always fun over here,” said Victorino.

Kristine Uyeno, Brigette Namata, Kelly Simek, Taizo Braden and Alex Cerball were among the servers.

No word yet on who collected the most.
