The city is taking action to secure parts of Haleiwa Beach Park after severe erosion caused structures to crack and crumble.
On the Waimea-side of the park, sinkholes have formed behind a seawall fronting an outdoor shower and comfort station.
The city has blocked off the area and plans to install a chain-link fence around the unsafe area.
An outdoor shower will be removed and eventually relocated. The shower on the opposite side of the park will remain in place.
The city says it’s looking into long-term solutions to address the problem.
