Kaaawa residents asked to conserve water as crews respond to water main break; expect traffic delays

Local News

KAAAWA, Hawaii (KHON2) — Board of Water Supply crews are responding to a 6-inch water main break near Kalaeoio Beach Park in Kaaawa.

The break is under a bridge on Kamehameha Highway and drivers are asked to drive cautiously.

The BWS will reopen the roadway between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to accommodate pau hana traffic. When crews resume work at 6 p.m., they will use the makai lane to contra-flow traffic.

A bypass is being implemented to provide water to customers in the area; water pressure may be at lower than normal.

Kaaawa residents are asked to continue to use water for essential needs only such as cooking, cleaning, and sanitary needs.
