HONOLULU (KHON2) –There was a large boat fire about six miles off of Ala Moana this afternoon.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The crew from the 46-foot commercial fishing vessel named Miss Emma that caught fire was taken to Pier 38.

The captain of the boat says that seven passengers were forced to jump into a life raft after a fire broke out in the hull of their boat which was overcome by smoke. One of the passengers was an observer for NOAA.

Five crew members were scene by EMS but none were taken to a hospital. No one was injured.

The Coast Guard arrived on scene at 5:05 p.m. with a 45-foot Response-Boat Medium crew, and used a Cutter, an HC-130 Hercules airplane.
