Aside from preparing for his four sold-out shows at the Blaisdell Arena, comedian Jo Koy paid a visit to a boy suffering from cancer.

Jayvis Ilar has a rare form of brain cancer. He is also a big fan of Jo Koy.

When his aunt ran into the comedian at the Honolulu International Airport, she took a chance and spoke of her nephew.

“He said, ‘Man, I’m sorry to hear that, can I come see him?’ I said what! Yes!” said Krysle Ilar.

Jo Koy met Jayvis at Kaiser Hospital in Moanalua on Tuesday.

“He came walking in and Jayvis’s face just lit up. It was like the biggest smile and he wanted it to be a surprise for Jayvis,” explained Ilar.

There was laughter, and card games.

“Jayvis was so happy. The family is super happy. His mom who’s my sister in law could not stop laughing even 20 minutes after Jo Koy left. It’s so awesome because I haven’t seen these two smile and laugh as much as they did today. So it’s such a big blessing that he came,” said Ilar.

Nearly a week ago, Jayvis got a surprise from another star: Bruno Mars.

A signed poster was given to him after he became too ill to attend the singer’s concert at Aloha Stadium.

In the hospital ever since, Jayvis’ family tells us he’s feeling better, and hopefully, this time he get to use the all-access pass Jo Koy gave him to see the shows at the Blaisdell Arena.
