HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Honolulu Police Department reported a road closure on Nimitz Highway due to a vehicle collision investigation.
According to Emergency Medical services, a 66-year-old male bicyclist was hit by a vehicle and received injuries to the head and body.

HPD later reported that the bicyclist was crossing a driveway when he was hit by a 39-year-old motorist.
The bicyclist was then transferred to the hospital in critical condition where he later died.
The motorist sustained no injuries and stayed at the scene.
The 66-year-old was said to not be wearing a helmet.

Police officials said all eastbound lanes on Nimitz Highway near Liliha Bakery were closed but since then have reopened.
