City crews have cut the extra long grass along Kaukonahua Road on Oahu’s North Shore.
KHON2 asked the city about the problem last week because people had been commenting on social media about the lack of maintenance.
In some areas, the grass was over six feet tall, and there were few places to pull over in case of an emergency, or if an emergency vehicle was coming through. The grass also blocked guardrails and traffic signs.
A city spokesperson told KHON2: “The Department of Facility Maintenance Roads Division, Waialua Yard, has started cutting the overgrown vegetation from the top of Kaukonahua Road and will continue all the way down.”
So all last week crews were busy cutting down the tall grass.
Now there’s a place to pull over, and you can once again see the traffic signs and guardrails, making the road a little safer to drive on.
Kaukonahua Road has been the scene of many deadly and critical crashes over the years.
