Cemetery urn thief makes court appearance

Local News

The suspect accused of stealing urns from a Pearl City cemetery appeared in court Monday.

Melvin Noble Jr., 44, is accused of digging up four urns from Sunset Memorial Cemetery back in June, then selling them at Reynolds Recycling for a mere $31.

Family members said they just want the ashes that were in the urns back.

“Our wish is that we get our family ashes back,” said Lisa Wond, “and if (Noble) would just tell us where they are or what he did with them, that’s what we want.”

A second suspect, Faamnuiaga Vee, is also charged in the case.
