HONOLULU (KHON2) — According to the Honolulu Police Department, officials have responded to a fire reported near Kaunala Street in Sunset on Sunday, at around 8:45 p.m.
HPD said the brush fire is burning off a mountain on the North Shore. The Honolulu Fire Department firefighters arrived on the scene at around 8:51 p.m.
According to HFD, firefighters were stationed to protect surrounding homes and structures from the fire, because of large boulders, loose rocks, steep terrain and night conditions.
HFD said its tankers conducted water shuttling operations while a water relay was established. HFD crews stayed overnight to begin extinguishment of the wildland fire.
No road closures or evacuations have been enforced, said police.
