Firefighters were called to Ward Avenue Monday evening after a broken hydrant sent a geyser of water shooting several stories into the air.
The water was so high, it could be seen from buildings several blocks away. What could barely be seen: a firefighter standing in the middle, trying to stop it.
The road had to be closed near Green Street as crews shut off the water and cleaned the mess.
Witnesses say a vehicle crashed into the hydrant and took off.
No injuries were reported.
