The body of a missing Keaau man has been found in Puna.
On Tuesday, Jan. 7, at around 3 p.m., Big Island police said an opihi picker discovered Jann Nakoa’s body about 100 feet from the ocean, along the shoreline between Hilo and Keaau.
The 49-year-old had been missing since Jan. 1.
The Hawaii Fire Department airlifted his body out of the area and Nakoa’s identity was confirmed the next day through fingerprints.
Police do not suspect foul play. An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday, Jan. 9, to determine his exact cause of death.
