HONOLULU (KHON2) — Big Island police is reporting technical issues impacting the 911 call system on Friday. The service is now operational for landlines and cellphones except those who use Verizon.

If you are experiencing an emergency, Verizon users should call the police department’s non-emergency line at (808) 935-3311. An update will be provided when the 9-1-1 system is restored.

The Hawaii Police Department thanks the public for their patience while the system is being fixed.
