Several beach-goers came to the rescue of an entangled green sea turtle over the weekend.
On Sunday, the Turtle Stranding Hotline received several reports of the entangled animal off-shore at Kaimana Beach in Waikiki.
When crews got there, they found the turtle with about 2-and-a-half feet of fishing line coming out of its mouth, wrapping around its neck, and both fore flippers.
With the help from the beach-goers, they were able to capture the animal, hold it above the surface of the water, and remove the debris. They then released the turtle back into the wild.
Green sea turtles are considered threatened under the Endangered Species Act.
