Firefighters extinguish an abandoned McCully apartment fire

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Firefighters extinguished a building fire on Kapiolani Boulevard, Friday, November 8.

The fire happened at 2745 Iolani Terrace, a residential building in McCully, according to the Honolulu Fire Department.

Responders received the call at 8:22 p.m. and responded with 10 units and 39 personnel. Upon arrival, they found a four-story apartment building with smoke and flames coming from the fourth floor.

Fire units commenced firefighting operations and later extinguished the fire at 8:42 p.m.

The building is known to be abandoned but firefighters found an adult male squatting in unit 403, according to HFD.

The fire is under investigation and the cause has yet to be determined. 

Fire damages are not available at this time and no injuries were reported for this fire.
