3.7 magnitude earthquake hits portion of Big Island

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A 3.7 magnitude earthquake shook a portion of the Big Island on January 29, around 12:23 p.m.

According to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center’s preliminary data, it happened in the vicinity of Kalapana. Officials say that the quake was not large enough to cause a tsunami for the Big Island or surrounding islands.
