Exciting changes for Alaska Airlines

HONOLULU (KHON2) - Two years ago, Alaska Airlines announced their plan to merge with Virgin America and for the past 16 months, their employees have been busy working to become one airline.

Last month, the airlines reached a major milestone.

“In the early hours of April 25, we accomplished that goal – one website, one mobile app, one check-in experience, and one customer support center – most importantly, as one team,” says Daniel Chun, Director of Sales, Community & Public Relations for Alaska Airlines.

He adds, “our flights to all 118 destinations have Alaska Airlines flight numbers and you’ll look for Alaska Airlines signage and gates at the airport.”

Alaska now has the most West Coast nonstop destinations of any airline, and offers nonstop service to 7 of the top 10 destinations from Hawaii.

And according to Chun, with 15 airline partners, they can now take their guests to more than 900 destinations around the world.

Guests can also expect some changes with the ‘new’ Alaska Airlines.

“Our fleet of now 307 aircraft is getting a makeover. We are modernizing our cabins, upgrading our menu options with locally-inspired food, expanding beverage choices and First class amenities, and upgrading to fast, reliable onboard satellite Wi-Fi,” says Chun.

Alaska Airlines also offers one of the most generous loyalty programs in the airline industry, and one of the hallmarks of it is their Alaska Airlines Visa Signature Card.

It comes with an annual companion fare offer that cannot be beat!

Right now, if you sign up before June 30, the roundtrip companion fare is free (plus taxes/fees)!

And then every year after that, you’ll get another roundtrip companion fare for $99 plus taxes/fees.

The companion fare is good anywhere they fly, with no blackout dates.  For more info, go to http://alaskaair.com
