Waikiki Yokocho is a Japanese food “gourmet alley” located in the center of Waikiki.

There are currently 13 restaurants that offer a variety of quality, authentic Japanese cuisine, including ramen, tempura, sushi, and curry.

Noodle lovers will enjoy “Ramen Road,” which features four ramen shops from Japan, all opening for the first time in Hawaii.

Tsujita serves its ramen tsukemen-style, with hearty noodles separated from thick pork- and seafood-based broth. Tonkotsu Kazan Ramen, or Volcano Ramen, pours its soup into a sizzling hot stone pot. Bario is known for its rich creamy tonkotsu broth and massive roast pork. Baikohken was featured in the 2012 Michelin Guide Hokkaido as an authentic ramen shop.

“Noren Street” offers more savory selections such as tempura and sushi vendors. For those looking for something sweet to cap off their dining experience, “Engawa Terrace” showcases dessert-type dishes.

Five new restaurants are celebrating their grand opening on Saturday, Feb. 11, with special freebies.

Starting at 11 a.m., the restaurants will offer their first 300 guests free items if they show and verify that they are following the five new restaurants and Waikiki Yokocho’s Instagram accounts on their smart phones. One guest per smart phone.

The entrance for this event will be located on the Seaside Avenue side of Waikiki Shopping Plaza.
