SEATTLE (KHON2) – Going on a food tour is a great way to experience what makes Seattle a foodie destination known around the world.

Savor Seattle is a walking food tour founded in 2007 by Angela Shen. Its mission is to “serve joy,” which means connecting people, locals, and visitors to Seattle food in unique and unexpected ways.

Shen started the company as a new resident in Seattle. “I always appreciated the power that food has to bring people together. So I thought why not create a business that shows off Seattle’s best food and bar scene?” she said.

The Booze ‘n Bites tour highlights the city’s abundance of fresh, local seafood, produce, meats, and cheese, and their use in the pursuit of culinary and cocktail perfection. Featured “booze ‘n bites” include fresh ginger beer Montana Mules, carne asada tacos, and mushroom muffuletta sliders.

Savor Seattle is also the first in the U.S. to launch a self-guided tasting experience via an app platform. Customers who download the Savor Seattle app and purchase the Seattle Wine Passport will have access to 25-plus area wineries, of which they can select 10 locations of their choosing, with a flight of wine tastings at each stop.

If you want to go to Seattle, do what Living808’s Trini Kaopuiki and John Veneri did and hop on an Alaska Airlines flight. The airline offers daily nonstop service to Seattle from Lihue, Honolulu, Kahului, and Kona.
