The price of Prom and how to keep a budget

The cost for prom has been increasing every year, and HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union wants to prepare you and your teenager for the big dance and big costs. For parents and students, this is an opportunity to practice savings, budgeting, and planning.

It’s never too early to start talking about expectations. Even 6 months in advance, whether your teen is frugal or extravagant, you can discuss a budget and start a savings plan that will work for both of you. According to a survey, in 2014 prom costs averaged $978 per family and parents covered only 56% of this.
