Hawaii United Okinawa Association Celebrates 70th Anniversary

Honolulu  (KHON2) – The Hawaii United Okinawa Association marks its milestone 70th anniversary this year working to preserve the Okinawan legacy for future generations with events and programs such as the Okinawan Festival.

The Hawaii United Okinawa Association of HUOA was established back in 1951 and is an umbrella organization for 50 different clubs with approximately 40,000 members.

Other major events include the Hawaii Okinawa Student Exchange Program, Children’s Day Camp, Golf Tournament and Legacy Awards Banquet honoring Uchinanchu in the community.

Without the support of many, HUOA would not be able to do all the things it does and maintain its beautiful home at the Hawaii Okinawa Center, the hub for cultural activities.

If you are interested in helping HUOA with their mission, you can volunteer or make a donation.
