Teach your children how to standup paddle board, windsurf, kayak and more through free monthly keiki water safety clinics held by non-profit Pa’ani Wai Hawai’i .
The next clinic is scheduled for March 17th from 2-5pm in Kailua.
Pa’ani Wai Hawai’i educates locals and visitors daily about ocean safety, weather conditions and waters ports techniques and conducts monthly free keiki clinics to introduce, educate and encourage participation in water sports.
According to Pa’ani Wai Hawai’i Executive Director and Instructor Josh Seymour, the motivation is simple.
Seymour says, “My son was interested in water sports but only wanted to do what his friends do. Many kids didn’t have the opportunity to try different sports that we take for granted in Hawaii. “
The non-profit hopes to expand to do more free clinics and reach more people of all ages who want to play in the ocean.
Seymour adds, “If we can prevent at least one drowning we see on the news and make room for more positive stories, then we’re making a difference.”
Group lessons are for children ages 5 to 15 year old.
Parents must sign up their Keiki in advance online or in person at 171 Hamakua Dr.
The next scheduled free clinic dates are March 17, April 14, May 19, June 23, and July 21.
After the group lessons, the kids will take turns on our gear learning and practicing their new skills.
Parents must accompany keiki at the event and are encouraged to get wet and join in the fun.
All participants must be able to swim.
Walk ups will be allowed to listen along to the lessons and safety briefing, and are welcome to join if space is available.
