Kamaaina Kids is so excited for this year’s Children and Youth day, not only because Kamaaina Kids is one of the main sponsors for this event but this is their first year being the Children and Youth Day Event Administrator, and it’s been great working side by side with Senator Oakland. The event is Sunday, October 2nd at Iolani Palace and the surrounding grounds. Keiki and their families can expect a rich experience honoring Hawaiian Culture!
Be sure to line up early for FREE tours of the Palace and Basement Gallery, or sit under the cool shade of the huge monkey pod tree and watch Hula halau performances, listen to music by well-known musicians or visit the Cultural Tent and see and participate in many favorite practices up close and personal. There’s also a fun 10-30 minute Keiki Obstacle Course behind the barracks building with 5 events including carrying water, dry stone stacking, tying palm for thatching…and planting an uala (sweet potato plant) to bring home. Parents are encouraged to participate too.
