Life on the streets living in a tent is a harsh reality for an estimated 2,400 Hawaii residents who can’t afford the price of paradise.
There’s hope in the form of an innovative program.
The Institute for Human Services or IHS is seeing promising results with its one-year old Kahauiki Village, which offers housing and a hand up at a fixed rate to help homeless families get back on their feet, regardless of their income.
According to Kimo Carvalho, the plan is to open up more rentals to house more of Hawaii’s house-less and IHS is asking for your support and donations to make that possible.
Everything from properties to rent out to household items from furniture to linens.
