The Hawaii State Art Museum has more than 6-thousand pieces of art that you can enjoy anytime for free.

With so much to discover at HiSAM, a group of Hawaii’s Fine Art Connoisseurs has made its top picks. 

The Top 25 Picks from the HiSAM collection were made by Hawaii’s fine art connoisseur team: Walter Dods, Herb Conley, Momi Cazimero, Kelly Sueda, Heidi Berman, Greg Northrop, Lisa Yoshihara, Jim Growney, Senator Brian Taniguchi, and Marcia Morse.

Eleven living artists will be honored: Satoru Abe, Reiko Brandon, Allyn Bromley, Sally French, John Koga, David Kuraoka, Hiroki Morinoue, Esther Shimazu, Masami Teraoka, Harry Tsuchidana, Doug Young.

Tannya sat down with the HiSAM President Joyce to talk about the unique local spin at the museum and the type of artwork that made the list.

The announcement is part of a reception taking place on First Friday, February 1st at 5PM on the 2nd floor of the Museum.

The announcement will be followed at 6pm, for Jodi Endicott’s Show, “Out of the Garden” at the Artizen Cafe Gallery downstairs.
