Hawaii Island Week: KTA Super Stores’ 100th anniversary

KHON2’s Wake Up 2day and Living808 present a special series from the Island of Hawaii. Trini Kaopuiki went exploring and found the joys of a staycation on Hawaii’s largest island.

KTA Super Stores has been serving the residents of Hawaii Island for generations.

According to CEO Barry Taniguchi, KTA Super Stores started one hundred years ago as a modest 500-square-foot grocery store and dry goods store by his grandparents, Koichi and Taniyo Taniguchi. Since then, KTA has grown to a six-store chain serving the residents of Hawaii Island.

Taniguchi thanks the store’s local customers, vendors and dedicated staff for their success. He also says that the company gives back to the community through cash and product donations to various charities.
