Local businesses light the way to big energy savings

Hawaii Energized

October is National Energy Action Month and the folks at Hawai‘i Energy are celebrating all month long!

They are shining a light on local businesses that are taking a stand and reducing their energy use, because they care about their impact on our islands’ future.

They are leading the way in reducing energy costs and helping Hawaii get to 100% clean energy.

#1.  La Tour Café installed LED lights, efficient air conditioning, efficient refrigeration motors and more saving thousands of dollars on their electric bills!

#2.  Maui Brewing Company has invested heavily in energy-saving measures, such as installing LED lighting throughout its facilities and super-sized fans to keep their brewing areas cool.

#3. Honolulu and Hawaii Counties replaced all of their street lights with energy saving LED light bulbs.

#4. Iolani Palace brightened the landmark’s energy saving future by upgrading all 1,030 light bulbs to LED lights, which will save Iolani Palace about 12-hundred dollars a month.

#5. Catholic Charities Hawaii is helping low-income housing residents save energy and money by retrofitting hundreds of housing units in Waianae and in Honolulu with LED light bulbs and low-flow water fixtures.

LED lighting was the low-cost entryway into efficiency for each of these organizations, and yet they also saw the benefit of additional efficiency projects unique to their facilities.
