RevoluSun Smart Home President David Gorman says you don’t have to break the bank to stay cool this Summer!
According to Gorman, it’s all about total home performance.
“If you are paying HECO for every watt of electricity to power your AC, you’re feeling the cost of electricity hit pretty hard. But, if you have solar, you’re not worried about running the AC. In fact, the extended hours of sunlight are providing you with more electricity than in the winter months, so you have extra electricity to cool your home with,” says Gorman.
While the topic of roofing isn’t sexy, Gorman says it sure makes a difference in how hot the house gets and therefore, how long you have to run the AC to cool the house down at the end of the day.
“I used to have to run the AC for at least an hour just to cool the house down at the end of the day. After I insulated the ceiling and got solar reflective shingles, my house isn’t nearly as hot as it used to be, so it cools down pretty quickly when I turn on the AC,” he says.
