In today’s Hawaii’s Kitchen, we’re cooking up some smoked brisket tacos with Chef de Cuisine, Arturo Silva, from Buho Cocina y Cantina in Waikiki.
Buho is one of the vendors participating in this year’s “Walk in the Country” event happening next month in Ko’Olina. Walk in the Country is a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii.
According to Tim Motts, President & CEO of Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii, the organization serves more than 14,000 youth on 11 sites throughout Oahu and Kauai every year. Their mission is to ensure that every one of those kids are inspired and able to become responsible, caring and productive citizens.
Their members are fed healthy meals, courtesy of Hawaii Food Bank, they participate in activities from sports to music to homework help (and everything in between), and go on excursions to give them memories and experiences to last throughout their lifetime.
Walk in the Country is their annual fundraising event with Title sponsor Ko Olina Hawaii. This is their 19th year of having 700 of Hawaii’s movers and shakers come to Lanikuhonua in Ko Olina (wearing their Slippahs) to enjoy amazing food and drink. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 5:00 pm.
They have food from Buho, AGU, Phuket Thai, Pomaikai Ballrooms, Roy’s, Monkeypod Kitchen, poi, poke, kulolo, you name it! They will also have adult shaved ice, amazing wines, liquor and beer, bread and cheese to go with their wine tasting. They also have an incredible silent auction with items like: Super Bowl package with tickets, hotel and air, plus they’ve got Legends suite tickets to the New York Yankees.
All proceeds benefit over 14,000 youth in the state.
You can purchase tables or tickets online at www.bgch.com/2015Walk, you can also donate or let them know about auction items through that site.
