Thursday, Aug. 16, is National Tell a Joke Day!
Trini is terrible at telling jokes, so she turned to an expert for help.
Local comedian Augie T has been in the business for 27 years.
“I love the reaction. There’s nothing like saying something, and then people responding with a huge laugh. It’s almost hypnotic,” he said. “When I was first starting out, I always wanted to kill, and when I say kill, meaning slam a joke. But now, the fun of watching people look at you like luggage at baggage claim. It’s like the best. They just kind of stare.”
Augie says any aspiring comedian needs to: 1) Fully commit, even if the joke sucks! 2) Be animated and enthusiastic. Use your hands.
“I’m a firm believer that if you’re ready and you’re prepared and you love what you do, it doesn’t matter what (people in the audience) think,” he said.
Can Trini make her coworkers laugh?
