Single mother of three becomes caregiver for her own mother

Laulima

KHON2 is once again partnering with Keiki O Ka Aina for our Laulima Giving Program. Every day, we’ll share a story of a family or someone who may be going through a rough time and could use some help this holiday season.

Today’s Laulima family involves a single mother who became a caregiver to her own mother this year.

A few months ago, life changed drastically for this single mother of three. Her mother suffered a stroke, Mom became her caregiver, and she lost her job. She suffers anxiety and depression, but she is seeing a counselor and is looking for a job as a cook.

Her 13-year-old son loves sports, and she says he’d appreciate anything sports-related.

Her 9-year-old daughter loves arts and crafts, painting.

Her 5-year-old son would love any kind of toys.

They could all use new shoes and clothing, including Mom, and that’s all she asked for.

But we’d also love it if this family could have a beautiful holiday dinner.

In the spirit of Laulima, let’s brighten the holidays for this entire three-generation family.
