Police say the suspect was arrested for murder in the second degree and use of a firearm in commission of a separate felony. His bail is set at $1 million.

CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department thank the public for their help.

Tokuhara’s friends said the arrest brings some relief.

“It does seem like forever but there are so many cases that go unsolved,” said Nicole Trazo, Tokuhara’s childhood friend. “So it is a small comfort that it took them a month but we do. I wouldn’t say there is closure to this but at least it’s heading that way.”

HPD said officers were sent to Tokuhara Acupuncture on Waipahu Depot Street at around 8 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 13, where they found the body of a 47-year-old Jon Tokuhara inside with a gunshot wound.

Earlier this month, police said a man and a woman were persons of interest in the case.

They said the woman was in a romantic relationship with Tokuhara.
