Ren Clayton grew up in Minneapolis as a true sports fanatic. He loves watching the Olympics, the Masters Tournament, and the World Series.
So naturally, it was a sporting event that drew his attention to Honolulu.
“A couple years ago, I was watching the Sony Open on TV and told my coworker that I wanted my next job to be in Honolulu – and here I am!” he says.
After graduating from Concordia University, St. Paul, Ren produced a high school sports magazine show, then went on to become a sports anchor and reporter in Rapid City, S.D.
Telling the human stories of people in sports is his passion, especially at the high-school level. “I want to serve the people of Hawaii by telling their best sports stories,” he says.
When he’s not working, you can find Ren playing (what else?) sports. “My hobbies include golf, softball, and volleyball.”
He’s also determined to learn to surf.
