Alan Hoshida is a native of the Garlic Capital of the World, Gilroy, California where he grew up performing: on the musical theater stage and on the volleyball court! After high school, he was ready to experience city life. He attended San Francisco State University where he earned a degree in Broadcast Journalism, with an emphasis in Sports.
Alan’s career has taken him up and down the west coast; from the Bay Area, to Humboldt, CA, up to Tri-Cities, WA and now to the beautiful Aloha state! Alan’s passion for local sports began in San Francisco where he spent more than three years moving up the production ranks, at Comcast SportsNet Bay Area during the golden age of Bay Area sports – covering 4 championship runs from 2010-2015.
While he loved working behind the scenes, Alan was ready to follow his dream of being in front of the camera. He took his first on-air job as the weekend sports anchor at KIEM in Eureka, CA, where he covered high school and college sports. After a year, he moved to Eastern Washington to head the sports department at KEPR TV in the Tri-Cities. He spent nearly four years covering sports for over 20 high schools and telling the local athletes’ inspiring stories. He became a strong figure in local community who voted him Best Sportscaster in the Peoples’ Choice. Twice.
When he’s not covering local sports, you can find Alan on the golf course, tasting craft brews, eating great food, and enjoying the beach with his wife and dog, Tim Lincecum. He loves cheering on his Bay Area teams: Go Sharks, 49ers, Giants and Warriors!
Alan looks forward to exploring the island and immersing himself into the beautiful culture of Hawaii. Remember to say hi if you see him out and about.
