Punahou amateur golfer misses cut at Sony Open

The 8th youngest player to ever make a cut on the PGA Tour, Punahou's own 16-year-old Kyle Suppa, teed it up for the third round of the Sony Open Saturday afternoon at the Waialae Country Club.

Suppa continued to make supper of his par putts, with a nice bunker shot to get within five feet on the 1st hole, and at the turn, a 14-footer makin' it chirp for birdie.

He was at even par when on the 13th, he made a birdie from 20 feet out.

But after a bogey on the 16th, Suppa was playing for his tournament life on the 18th, but just comes up short on the 8-footer for par.

Because there were so many players tied for the cut line on Friday, another cut of 10 was made, and Suppa didn't make it.

But what a weekend -- he finishes tournament play at 1-under. Suppa said this weekend's play will help his golf game in the long run, and he thanked his family, friends and fans for coming out to watch him play.
