On Friday afternoon, NBA hall-of-famer Dominique Wilkins will be at McCabe Gym (Saint Louis School) to continue his endeavor on Oahu to raise diabetes awareness.
The nine time NBA all-star was diagnosed with type-1 diabetes two years after retiring from basketball as the 11th leading scorer all-time with 26,668 points. Diabetes has also taken the lives of his father and grandfather.
Wilkins will be stressing the importance of diabetes screenings, as well as healthy living habits such as diet and exercise to avoid the crisis that has plagued the United States.
The event, which is open to the public, is scheduled from 3:30 to 5:30 pm, and parking will be available.
