In his first MMA bout, former Warrior and Roosevelt graduate Chad Owens won a unanimous decision bout with Maui native Junyah Tevaga.
The bout was scheduled for two three minute rounds, and captivated the racous Neal Blaisdell Center crowd for the Destiny Na Koa III event.
Owens, the reigning CFL Most Outstanding Player, moves to 1-0 in his mixed matrial arts career.
After the fight, Owens said: "Again I gotta commend Junyah Tevaga for being prepared and he brought it he never quit. I know I hit him with a few shots and he has a solid jaw on him, a solid chin, so he will do well."
About 40 students got sick and 25 of them, along with two adults, were taken to the hospital. Officials are now taking a look at what they ate for lunch.
