This is Kamehameha junior to be Spencer Dunaway. Dunaway is the 3-time Hawaii junior golf event winner in 2013 and has left for San Diego this weekend to take part in the Junior Masters.
The prestigious event tees-off on Monday and the tourney will mark as the biggest event of Dunaway's his young career.
Dunaway hopes it will allow him to continue following the footsteps of Hawaii born former PGA Tour members like Dean Wilson and Parker McLachlin.
"It's great to have players who have tried and have been very great junior golfers here. Just to shows us how hard it is in the golf community to make it to our ultimate goal which is the PGA tour. We have some great golfers coming out of Hawaii that just so competitive that you have to be at the top of your game. You have to be number one. Dominate everything. And then maybe you'll still have a shot. You have maybe a hundred more players that have done the same thing in their state. But it's great to have them in front of us to show us the path. And we just follow that path and take it further. It's just a great feeling to know that I'm not only am I representing myself, but my state and my family, my last name. It's just awesome," said Dunaway.
The Junior Masters will jumpstart Dunaway's July showcase as he'll next tee it up at the Junior World Championships at Torrey Pines.
